Expansion plans for the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth were given the green light, Fort Worth Business reported.
The Fort Worth City Council approved the plan this month. The development includes 400 rooms in an annex to the main building and will be located between Houston Street, West 14th Street, Throckmorton Street, and Lancaster Avenue.
It will also tout 50,000 square feet of spaces that could feature a ballroom, boardroom, or conference area.
The new additions will bring Omni Fort Worth’s room count to 1,008 rooms, just a handful over the 1,001 at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Dallas.
The entire project is slated to come with a $174 million price tag. Nearly $110 million of that will cover the price of construction. To get started, the city will assist with a payment of $40 million at most in a one-time cash grant.
The expansion is expected to be done by Dec. 31, 2023.
