CITY OF FORT WORTH: Global Entrepreneurship Week Kicks Off With Week Of Virtual sessions

City of Fort Worth issued the following announcement on Nov. 12. 

Fort Worth’s Global Entrepreneurship Week is back and bigger than ever.

With more than 70 virtual activities scheduled from Nov. 16-20, Fort Worth’s Global Entrepreneurship Week is the largest event of its kind in the country. These sessions are accessible to diverse audiences of all kinds, from experienced entrepreneurs and business owners, to up-and-coming startups, to locals looking to learn more about Fort Worth’s entrepreneur and small-business scene.

Many Fort Worth organizations are taking part in this year’s festivities, and topics range from educational “Entrepreneurship 101” information, to exploring the stories and impact of several emerging technology and innovation businesses, and spotlighting several local North Texas entrepreneurs.

With more than 70 events going on, here are a few standouts:

  • Accelerate DFW – Pitch Battle 2020. Entrepreneurs will present their pitch in video format, and the one with the most social engagement via YouTube advances. Pitch experts break down four pitches each day.
  • Business Equity in Fort Worth. Learn about minority- and women-owned businesses in Fort Worth.
  • Seminario Para Negocios Hispanos. This seminar presented by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and La Gran Plaza is presented in Spanish, and will discuss topics that help support Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, such as marketing, laws and regulations, banking, finance and technology.
  • Local entrepreneur Jonathan Morris, live from Backlot Studio. Morris is the entrepreneur behind The Lathery and Fort Worth Barber Shop, and is the future star of the upcoming Magnolia Network Series “Self Employed.”
  • Global Entrepreneur Week Town Hall with Mayor Betsy Price. Price will sit down to talk about entrepreneurship in Fort Worth.
  • State of Entrepreneurship in Fort Worth. This returning flagship session will bring together local “movers and shakers” in Fort Worth’s entrepreneurial scene, along with Andy Stoll, serial entrepreneur and senior program officer at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
  • Urban Entrepreneurship: The Plight of Blacks in Business. A discussion on issues currently faced among Black entrepreneurs and some of the initiatives taking place nationwide to address them.
  • Vietnamese-American Entrepreneurship. Tom Le, cofounder of Luraco Technologies, sits down with TECHFW’s Cathy Trinh to discuss his U.S. startup journey and his company’s resilience during the pandemic. Presented in Vietnamese.
  • Advice from Angels. Fort Worth’s premier investment group, Cowtown Angels, and one of its portfolio companies, Revitalize Charging Solutions, dives into the world of Angel funding.
  • Multiple events hosted by UNT Health Science Center as part of their HSC Startup series, Innovate Fort Worth podcast, and HSC Innovates series.
