CITY OF FORT WORTH: 2020 Thanksgiving Holiday Closures

City of Fort Worth issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.

Most city offices, including City Hall, will be closed Nov. 26-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Emergency services will be available as usual.

Solid waste services

There will be no garbage service on Thanksgiving Day. If your normal garbage pickup day is on Thursday, your pickup will be shifted to Friday; Friday service slides to Saturday. Normal pickup schedules resume the following Monday. All residents are allowed two extra bags of garbage next to the cart on their first pickup day following Thanksgiving. Bulk collections will continue on Friday, Nov. 27

The city’s four drop-off stations and the Environmental Collection Center will be closed Nov. 26-27 and reopen Nov. 28.

Animals services

The Fort Worth Animal Shelter, 4900 Martin St., will be closed Nov. 26-27. PetSmart Adoption Centers will be closed Nov. 26 and reopen Nov. 27.

Libraries

All Fort Worth Public Library locations will be open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 25. All libraries will be closed Nov. 26-27.

Park and recreation programs

All community centers will close at 6 p.m. Nov. 25. On Nov. 26, all community centers, Haws Athletic Center, Fort Worth at 6 programs, Log Cabin Village, Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, Botanic Garden and McLeland Tennis Center will be closed. The water features at the Water Gardens will be turned off. Pecan Valley Golf Course will be open 7 a.m.-3 p.m., but other municipal golf courses will be closed.

On Nov. 27, all community centers, Haws Athletic Center, Fort Worth at 6 programs and the Log Cabin Village will be closed. The Botanic Garden grounds, Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, McLeland Tennis Center, Water Gardens and municipal golf courses will be open.

Water

To access the Water Department’s automated system for payments and account inquiries or to report an emergency, call the 24-hour call center at 817-392-4477.

Transportation

On Nov. 26, TEXRail and The Dash will operate on their regular schedules. Trinity Railway Express and the ZIPZONEs in Crowley and Mercantile will not operate. Bus, ACCESS paratransit and ZIPZONEs in Alliance and Near Southside will operate on Sunday schedules. On Nov. 27, TEXRail, buses, ACCESS paratransit, all ZIPZONEs and The Dash will operate on regular schedule. TRE will operate on a Saturday schedule.
