City of Forth Worth Texas issued the following announcement on Dec. 16
Fort Worth celebrated William Rumuly at last week’s city council work session for being named Goodwill North Central Texas’ Community Member of the Year. The award was presented at a luncheon held each December to honor high-achieving staff members, service award recipients and a community partner of the year.
Goodwill North Central Texas’ Community Member of the Year is awarded to a member of the community or a community organization that has assisted Goodwill in volunteerism, placements, advocacy or financial support in a meaningful way. Rumuly was honored for his work with Summer Earn & Learn, known as SEAL.
In partnership with Texas Workforce Solutions Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and in collaboration with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, Goodwill North Central Texas’ SEAL program creates pathways to employment for students with disabilities. Participants receive workplace readiness training to prepare for successful employment and paid work experience to help build skills and identify future career goals.
“It is a great honor to receive this award,” Rumuly said. “I believe this is a tangible example of the commitment the City of Fort Worth has for every employee and department to be an active part of the community.”
Rumuly has been Municipal Court director since July 2020.
“The Municipal Court team, under William’s leadership, has truly embraced going out into the community, and the Summer Earn & Learn Program is a prime example of this stewardship,” said Valerie Washington, assistant city manager. “It’s great to celebrate William’s assistance in placing more than 70 youth with disabilities into positions throughout the City of Fort Worth over the past three years. I’m excited at the continued work of this team to find new ways to expand their community footprint and to foster continued partnerships with Goodwill North Central Texas.”
