Second Half Propels No. 16 TCU Over Texas State

No. 16 TCU capped its road trip with a 3-0 win over Texas State on Sunday afternoon in San Marcos, Texas. Tyler Isgrig led the Frogs with two goals and assist.

The Rundown

The Horned Frogs got on the board early in the second half on a converted penalty kick by Tyler Isgrig in the 48th minute.

Two minutes later, Messiah Bright struck for the Frogs. A touch by Olivia Hasler off Isgrig's corner kick fell perfectly to Bright for the goal to extend the TCU lead to 2-0.

Isgrig continued her stellar day by notching her second goal of the contest in the 83rd minute. She received a beautiful feed from Oli Pena in the box and fired a shot into the top left corner of the box to put TCU ahead 3-0.

The contest was scoreless the entire first half. Despite no goals on the board, TCU controlled possession and threatened several times. In the 31st minute, Isgrig notched a good look from just outside the box, but the ball hit the top half of the cross bar and went high.

Lauren Kellett made one save to record her fourth shutout of the season.

Quote of the Game

Head Coach Eric Bell

On the keys to the win over Texas State

"I think that we have to be patient. Texas State came out with a different shape that made it more challenging for us to break them down. We had to give them some information at the half and I thought our players did what we asked them to do from a tactical standpoint. Our goals in the beginning of the second half were able to settle the game.

On Tyler Isgrig's attack

"We recruited her as a goal-scorer and she's starting to find her rhythm. Hopefully this propels her to have an even better season as we head into conference play."
