Trash and Recycling
Waste Connection has informed the city that the Thursday trash route will be canceled. At this time, Friday trash routes are expected to run as scheduled. No recycling will be collected this week. As a reminder, trash routes will be slow on Friday and may run behind, please leave your trash out, and it will be collected (collections will continue through Saturday, Feb. 4, if needed). Bulk trash collection this week will be picked up, but it is not guaranteed to be collected by noon on Friday. Please leave your bulk collection at the curb and it will be collected. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this winter weather event.

City Facilities
All city facilities will remain closed on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Roads
Public Works crews work 24 hours a day to maintain major thoroughfares in the city. Crews have been pushing the slush on the roads using plows, so it does not refreeze into large chunks. Tonight, public works crews will begin adding salt to the sand mixture, which will assist in breaking down the ice faster. Roads are expected to refreeze, causing roads to become like sheets of ice. Please stay off the roads tonight and early morning until the situation can be accessed. If you have to travel, please utilize extreme caution.

Warming Stations
Currently, the BRiCk is not planned to be opened as a warming shelter on Thursday, Feb. 2. If widespread power outages occur, we will reopen.

Other Resources

  • Tarrant County will offer cold weather shelter at existing emergency shelters located at Union Gospel Mission (1321 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth), Presbyterian Night Shelter (2400 Cypress, Fort Worth)
  • The Salvation Army Mabee Center (1855 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth).
  • Johnson County, The Salvation Army, 111 S. Anglin Street, Cleburne 817-558-1296
Power Outages
There is a concern about the accumulation of ice on powerlines and trees that may cause power outages. Emergency Management is monitoring this situation in our community.
If your power goes out, contact your electric provider

Frozen Pipes/Flooding Issues
If you have an issue at your home or business with flooding or busted pipes and need to contact the city to turn off your water, don't hesitate to contact the city's non-emergency number, 817-426-9903.
