Volunteering in Fort Worth’s Park & Rec programs is a fun way to give back to the community. And now. there’s extra incentive to volunteer.

What’s new: Effective in July, the Park & Recreation Department will reward qualifying volunteers with a Gold-tier fitness members at the community center of their choice.

“Many of our programs and special events rely on our volunteers to be successful. People of all ages and abilities can improve their community by volunteering, and now you can receive a free fitness membership. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved,” said Eric Lopez, district superintendent.

How it works:

  • Volunteers who complete six hours or more in a calendar month receive a Gold fitness membership valid the following month. (A Gold fitness is valued at $19 per month for youth; $24 for adults; $18 for seniors.)
  • The incentive is available for youth volunteers ages 16 and up and adults. Volunteers ages 12-15 can participate, but will need parental permission to use the workout facilities.
What kinds of volunteer opportunities are available? Afterschool programs, Camp Fort Worth, Best Years Club (for seniors), class instructor, food distribution, special event attendants, youth sports coach and more.
