Mayor announces City Council committee appointments

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker has announced appointments of newly elected councilmembers to City Council committees to cover a range of pressing City issues, including transportation, innovation, neighborhood quality and legislative affairs.

Council committees give city councilmembers the opportunity to give additional attention to key issues, brainstorm solutions to recommend to the City Council, and engage with residents, stakeholders and experts on each committee’s topics of interest.

“Council Committees allow us to utilize the strengths and expertise of Councilmembers, community members and staff content matter experts to dive deeper on topics that matter most to our residents,” Parker said. “I appreciate each councilmember’s willingness to give additional time and attention to these important issues.”

Council committees’ new membership will begin meeting in September.

Audit Committee: This committee will provide oversight responsibilities for financial matters and internal and external audits.

  • District 10 Councilmember Alan Blaylock – Chair
  • District 2 Councilmember Carlos Flores – Vice-Chair
  • District 11 Councilmember Jeanette Martinez
  • District 6 Councilmember Jared Williams
Entrepreneurship & Innovation Committee: This committee will focus on policies and partnerships that will enhance entrepreneurship and Fort Worth’s business environment and look to data to help improve upon policies around permitting, small business success and strategic development. This committee will be supported by an advisory group of business leaders.

  • District 3 Councilmember Michael Crain – Chair
  • District 4 Councilmember Charles Lauersdorf – Vice-Chair
  • District 2 Councilmember Carlos Flores
  • District 7 Councilmember Macy Hill
  • District 8 Councilmember Chris Nettles
Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee: This committee will provide oversight responsibilities for the federal and state legislative issues and intergovernmental relations.

  • District 3 Councilmember Michael Crain – Chair
  • District 5 Councilmembers Gyna Bivens – Vice-Chair
  • District 9 Councilmember Elizabeth Beck
  • District 7 Councilmember Macy Hill
Mobility: Infrastructure & Transportation Committee: This committee will focus on transportation, water, infrastructure and connectivity.

  • District 10 Councilmember Alan Blaylock

Neighborhood Quality & Revitalization Committee: This committee will focus on neighborhood services, parks, libraries, public health, environmental issues and City partnerships in education.
