A solar eclipse will be visible from Fort Worth on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 14. Experience the fun and excitement of the eclipse at the Fort Worth Public Library leading up to the big day.
The big picture: An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth while it is at its farthest point from Earth. During this type of eclipse, the Moon will not completely block out the Sun, creating a “ring of fire” effect in the sky. Avoid damaging your eyes by using specialized eclipse-viewing glasses when looking directly at the eclipse.
What’s next: Join in on eclipse-related activities to learn about the phenomenon, make a fun space-related craft and pick up a pair of eclipse-viewing eyeglasses. Special family events are scheduled at libraries across the city leading up to the day of the eclipse. Glasses will be available while supplies last.
