House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger has announced that she will not seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives in 2024. In a statement released today, Granger expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve her community and outlined her accomplishments during her time in office.

Granger, who served as the first female Mayor of Fort Worth, the first Republican United States Congresswoman from Texas, and the first female Republican Appropriations Chair, reflected on the impact she has made throughout her career. She stated, "Serving my community has been the greatest honor, and I have always fought to improve the lives of my constituents."

Acknowledging the importance of new leadership, Granger expressed her confidence in the next generation of leaders in her district. She stated, "It's time for the next generation to step up and take the mantle and be a strong and fierce representative for the people." Despite her decision not to seek re-election, Granger affirmed her commitment to serving out the remainder of her term and working with her colleagues to advance their conservative agenda.

Granger concluded her statement by emphasizing the values that make the United States of America a great nation. She said, "The United States of America is the greatest country in the world because of our people and the vision of our Founding Fathers who created a nation that ensures every man, woman, and child has the opportunity to succeed."

Granger's decision not to seek re-election marks the end of an era in Texas politics. Her leadership and dedication to her constituents have left a lasting impact on her community and the state as a whole. As she steps aside, the stage is set for a new leader to take up the mantle and continue the work of advancing the conservative agenda.
