TCU defeated Texas Tech 18-8 on Mar. 27 in a run-rule game at Lupton Stadium, powered by an offensive performance that included five home runs and contributions from eight different players who drove in runs.
The result marks TCU’s eighth double-digit run game of the season and improves their record to 15-10 overall and 3-4 in Big 12 play. The team also registered a season-high of 18 hits, with six players collecting multiple hits during the game.
TCU began scoring early, putting up three runs in the first inning. Colton Griffin led off with a double and scored on Sawyer Strosnider’s single. Noah Franco added another run with a ground out, while Brady Dallimore delivered an RBI single with two outs. The third inning saw TCU break open the game, highlighted by home runs from Chase Brunson, Franco, and Jack Bell for an early double-digit lead.
Texas Tech managed to score throughout the middle innings but could not keep pace as TCU responded each time. Strosnider hit his tenth home run of the season as part of a five-run fifth inning for TCU. Cole Cramer contributed his first home run of the year in the sixth inning.
Pitcher Mason Brassfield earned his third win of the season after allowing three runs over five innings pitched, walking three batters and striking out four. Several players reached career milestones: Griffin extended his streak to reaching base safely in sixteen straight games; Cramer hit his seventh career home run; Strosnider recorded his twenty-first career homer; Brunson marked his twentieth; Franco notched his twelfth; and Bell collected his ninth.
The teams are set to meet again Saturday afternoon for Game Two of their series, which will be televised on ESPN+.
