The TCU men’s tennis team earned a 4-1 victory over the University of Central Florida on March 27, marking their eighth win against a top-25 opponent this season. The match took place at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and was part of Big 12 conference play.
This result highlights TCU’s strong performance in high-stakes matches and extends their outdoor home winning streak to 27 matches. The Horned Frogs have not lost on the Bartzen Varsity Courts since March 22, 2023, and now hold a record of 53 wins and two losses at home over the last four seasons.
Despite losing the doubles point for only the second time in three seasons on their home courts, TCU rebounded by sweeping singles courts one through four. Duncan Chan and Cooper Woestendick led with straight-set victories against UCF’s highest-ranked players, while Albert Pedrico added another singles win. Oliver Bonding clinched the match with his first career deciding victory after coming back from a set down.
TCU played without Cosme Rolland De Ravel, one-half of its top-ranked doubles team, leading to changes in pairings that contributed to dropping the doubles point. The team’s season doubles record now stands at 16 wins and three losses.
Friday’s match marked TCU’s first comeback win this season after losing the doubles point. In singles play, Chan defeated Yassine Dlimi (6-3, 6-4), Woestendick overcame Wissam Abderrahman (6-3, 6-2), Pedrico beat Pedro Rodrigues (7-5, 6-2), and Bonding secured his match-clincher against Mehdi Benchakroun (3-6, 6-2, 6-4).
Looking ahead, TCU will continue its homestand by hosting St. John’s on Sunday.
