TCU track and field will compete at the Baylor Invitational at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium in Waco, Texas, on April 10. The meet features a smaller group of teams but includes strong competition such as top-ranked LSU, Tarleton State, San Jose State, and host Baylor.
The event is significant for TCU as it provides another opportunity for athletes to test themselves against some of the best collegiate programs. A total of 57 TCU athletes are scheduled to participate in various events including races, jumps, and throws.
Several TCU athletes hold national rankings ahead of the meet. On the men’s side, Jayden Douglas is ranked fifth in the 400-meter hurdles while Ben Kirbo holds the sixteenth spot in pole vault. For the women’s team, London Tucker is ranked fourteenth in the 100 meters and seventeenth in long jump. Georgia Scott ranks twenty-fifth in the 800 meters and Tia Williams is sixteenth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Last week at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Michael McCloyed won his section of men’s pole vault with a personal best height of 5.20 meters (17-0¾). Georgia Scott finished third in her event with a career-best time of 2:04.49 for eight hundred meters. Jayden Douglas tied his own school record by running a time of 49.81 seconds in the men’s four-hundred-meter hurdles to finish second overall.
