City of Fort Worth issued the following announcement on March 20
Fort Worth is ensuring customers have continued access to potable water for hand washing and personal hygiene during this emergency by temporarily halting disconnections due to non-payment, with the overriding goal to halt the spread of COVID-19 in our community. This applies to all active residential, commercial and industrial accounts.
When water use is registering at a location without an active account, that water use will be interrupted, pending the proper set up and activation of a water utility services account.
Utility staff will continue to review accounts each billing cycle, water bills will continue to be sent out, late fees will continue to accrue, and delinquency notifications will be sent out under the normal process. Service interruptions for non-payment will resume at a later date.
Customers are reminded they are still responsible for the charges they accrue. This temporary suspension of water disconnections for non-payment underscores the severity of the situation and the city’s efforts to promote public safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This health emergency reinforces the role water and wastewater utilities perform every day in protecting public health.
