Synapse: Human Performance Centers Recognizes Brain Injury Awareness Month

36

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) leads the nation in observing Brain Injury Awareness Month annually in March. The current campaign theme is “More Than My Brain Injury,” helping to educate people about what it is like to live with a brain injury. The movement focuses on increasing the understanding of brain injuries as chronic conditions, reducing the stigma associated with brain injuries, showcasing the diversity of these injuries, and improving care and support for individuals and families suffering from a brain injury.

Synapse: Human Performance Centers, located by The Star in Frisco, is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those suffering from any brain injury. Synapse recognizes that every brain injury is unique, and effects differ from person to person depending on the cause of damage, its severity, and the location in the brain that is affected. When normal brain function is altered, it can physically, mentally, and emotionally impact lives. Brain injuries can include everything from concussion/mild traumatic brain injury and traumatic brain injury to non-traumatic brain injury and stroke. While the team is always focused on providing the most state-of-the-art care for patients, it gives special recognition to the BIAA’s #MoreThanMyBrainInjury campaign throughout March.
