Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream
The community is invited to a night of enchantment and dreams in the Weatherford College Alkek Fine Arts Center with the community production of William Shakespeare's “A Midsummer's Night Dream” July 1-3 and July 8-10.
Director James Brownlee promises this production will be a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous sets designed by two WC students, original music compositions by a local artist and a story that will draw in the audience with its themes of love and conflict.
“It is a comedy despite the serious themes,” Brownlee said. “And it is one of Shakespeare's most popular plays because the dialogue is typically more palatable than in his other works. The audience shouldn't have any trouble following the story. And with combat, dancing, singing and hysterically funny scenes, there is something for everyone.”
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Doors open a half hour prior to the start, and admission is free.
