TCU’s Fall 2022 Enrollment Rises 2.8%

Texas Christian University’s enrollment for Fall 2022 increased 2.8% to 12,273. This includes a 2.9% increase in undergraduate students to 10,523 and a 2% increase in graduate enrollment to 1,750. All numbers are in comparison to Fall 2021.

“These numbers are a testimony to TCU’s mission and values. Our students and families seek – and find – at TCU an unparalleled campus life experience, vital connections and the opportunity for growth that only TCU can offer,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. “Our faculty, our admissions team, Student Affairs, staff, Board of Trustees--everyone remains committed to all our students.”

First-year retention continued to be strong at TCU, increasing even still from a 91.3% in Fall 2021, to a current 91.7%. TCU added 390 transfer students and 2,491 first-time-in-college students for Fall 2022.

“There is no blueprint for enrolling a class during a global pandemic,” said Dean of Admission Heath Einstein. “Yet while universities nationwide struggled to regain their footing, our admit and yield rates remained strong and enrollment increased. We have thrived in recent years because of tremendous effort by our faculty and staff and prospective students see how special TCU is.”

This year was TCU’s second operating with a test optional admission process, and it will remain test-optional for 2024 admission.

“This method attracts the kind of talented, diverse and well-rounded student body we seek at TCU,” Einstein said. “While applicants may still provide a test score if they feel it would enhance their application, we continue to employ a truly holistic approach to application review that balances academic achievement, scholastic potential, and the ability to meaningfully engage with the community.”

TCU’s two largest undergraduate enrollments continue to be in the Neeley School of Business and in the College of Science & Engineering. TCU Neeley added 118 undergraduate students for a total of 2,979, up 4.1%. CSE added 88 undergraduate students for a total of 2,185. In graduate education, the most notable jump came from adding a fourth class to the Burnett School of Medicine for its first full student body and a total enrollment of 239 students.

TCU is dedicated to enrolling an academically-talented, diverse student body and making TCU more accessible to students and families – while maintaining responsible enrollment growth for the future and maintaining its low student-to-teacher ratio. The university is committed to continuing its trend of increasing financial aid to better support students, compete with universities across the country and increase both the academic profile and diversity of incoming students.
