Jonathon Moberly named dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business

Columbia College Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Piyusha Singh announced Thursday that Jonathon Moberly has been named dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business following a nationwide search. Moberly will assume the position on May 31, 2023, with Dr. Sandra Hamar continuing to serve as interim dean of the Plaster School of Business until then.

“Throughout the interview process, I was intrigued and encouraged by Jonathon’s emphasis on innovation, transparent communication and collaboration,” said Singh. “I look forward to partnering with Jonathon and implementing the strategies he will bring to the table.”

The Plaster School of Business is located on the main campus in Columbia but serves all students, faculty and staff across the college’s locations nationwide, including its Online Program. In addition to the dean, the School of Business has a team of nine faculty, directors and visiting instructors leading the business education, degree offerings and certificate programs.

Moberly currently serves as the dean of the College of Business & Technology as well as the director of operations for Strategic Enrollment at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He also served as the dean of the College of Graduate Studies & Adult Education from 2015-19 at Concordia. He has more than 16 years of experience in higher education, including as an adjunct instructor and full-time professor for several institutions throughout the Midwest. Before his career in education, he worked in the sports business industry for five years, representing professional athletes in marketing efforts and contract negotiations.

Moberly earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Eastern Illinois University, a Master’s of Business Administration from Lindenwood University and a Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law.
