Fort Worth City Council approves CentrePort Trail Construction

The Fort Worth City Council approved the execution of a construction contract with the McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., for over $6 million for the construction of CentrePort Trail Phase I project. The contract allows for the development of a new trail in the area. 

Why it matters: The CentrePort Trail Phase 1 will start at the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) CentrePort Station and end at the east end of the Arlington River Legacy Trail. 

  • Construction of the project is set to begin in February of this year and be completed March of 2025. 
  • This project is federally funded and budgeted in the Park & Recreation Department’s Grants Capital Projects Federal Fund.
What's next: Construction is anticipated to begin in February 2024 and be completed in March 2025. The project will include a 12-foot concrete multi-use path, trail structures, wide shoulders, and 911 location and trail signage.
