TCU Gives Innovative Admissions Partnership the Green Light

The TCU Office of Admission announced a partnership with Greenlight Match, a new program that intelligently connects qualified students with institutions they otherwise might have overlooked.

Think of it like online match-making for students and college admissions. Students are invited by their counselors to build a free, anonymized profile that features their interests and achievements and is certified by their counselors. From there, Greenlight Match delivers student profiles that match with TCU’s selection criteria, and TCU is able to review them and offer a financial aid package and conditional offer of admission. Without additional application and fee requirements, the program significantly reduces barriers.

“This new approach to college admissions is innovative and a growing trend nationally,” said Heath Einstein, dean of admissions. “We can target students directly based on their strengths and interests, rather than waiting for them to fill out our application. Essentially, Greenlight Match will help TCU forge a path to bring even more high-achieving students into our community.”

According to Greenlight Match, the program helps students navigate an earlier, shorter admissions timeline with a streamlined profile, and the integrated enrollment tools assist institutions like TCU with diversifying its class.

“Research shows that some talented high school students may not even consider applying to private institutions like TCU because they believe the costs are out of reach and are unaware of the amount of scholarships and financial aid we may be able to offer. We want to change this perception,” Einstein continued. “With Greenlight Match, we can target desirable students with an offer that may encourage them to consider TCU.”

An entity called Concourse used its technology to begin Greenlight Match in Chicago in 2021 to provide first-generation students and those with lower incomes offers of admission and financial aid. This year, upon its acquisition by EAB, a provider of education research, technology and marketing and enrollment solutions, Greenlight Match is expanding to the Fort Worth-Dallas area, as well as Atlanta, Houston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and New York City.

Greenlight Match will begin releasing candidate lists in October. Interested students and counselors can find out more online.
